back in Lahore - sigh

Yes, back to lahore . After one week in Kl shifting house and appeasing the wife. Poor woman had to do all the packing herself, organise the renovation , organise the movers etc, so yours truly was given warning that he better help unpack or else. Did the ceremonial lighting of stove thing and all. Yup, back to Lahore with the load shedding, shitty drivers. I still can't understand why there is a second guy at immigration who checks your passports 10 steps away after the counter stamps the passport. I heard of employment creation but this is ridiculous. And it really pisses me off when the guy browses through your passport wasting everyone's time. And what's with all the security checks? Dude, no self respecting chinaman will ever blow himself up. You see a yeloow skin guy, wave him through ! Anyway it's back to KL on thursday again, instructions from the boss.

Things that are cheap in Lahore

Still trying to get a flight back on SIA. Flights are full because of all the shenanigans at Bangkok airport, and there are precious few alternatives. Went to pick up my clothes today, one suit, 3 trousers all wool blend, two trousers garbedine and two shirts all for 10000 rupees (usd 125). Other things that are cheap here : medicine, flatware, corning ware, curtains , bed sheets, shoes, leather jackets (usd 30), smokes, labour

dinner at chez nur

Having guys from KL up so as usual it's dinners, lunches etc cos again, and I cannot say this enough, there is sweet fuck all to do in Lahore except eat. Anyway some pictures of dinner at "chez nur" one of Lahore's numerous swanky eateries. Some shots inside and out, and the 25 year old single malt , stuff we regularly bring in.

thinking of home

Just realised today I had better book another airline to go home seeing as Bangkok airport is still fucked. Was a bit surprised at the gym today, as there were actually a total of 6, yes 6 women working out. There is hope yet for women in DHA. And 3 of them were not wearing the shawal khamis to work out! Ladies if you are going to work out, dress accordingly. One day the shawal khamis is going to get caught in the treadmill, and then I wouldn't know whether to laugh or to help. Foreigners ie expats in Lahore reading this blog you know you have been wishing "get caught, get caught" when you see this. And local Pakistanis are now using the treadmill more and more. Shit. It will like KL soon where you have to book a spot. To think one year ago no one used the treadmill at my gym except me and the wife. Damn these health articles.

curry fish head in Lahore

Adi our cook cooked curry fish head/curry fish today. It was great. He has his moments of inspiration and the past few weeks have been pretty good. Anthony our QS brought his wife over from KL together with his 32 " LCD TV. Why? It was cheaper. And he was taxed USD 153 at the airport. LOL !

another bombing

Another bombing in Lahore, this time at Gadafi stadium. I must be getting desensitised as it did not even upset me. O yes, Bonnie's b'day bash was/is on 29 Nov. Felt like a real twit turning up at his house. Apparently they were robbed at gunpoint the night before. The robbers followed him back from work and held the whole house up. Scary. So I went to Jess and Lou's place for drinks. That's Lou at the left. The picture has been blurred to protect the innocent !

boredom sets in

Finally decided to start a blog. That's how boring it is in Lahore. Tomorrow will go to Bonnie's birthday bash. Hopefully will have some none halal food and consume prodigious amounts of alcohol.
